Imprecision: Devlog #3 - Intro Cutscene, Olaf, King Bjørn, Borg, and Water!
In these devlogs, I will show you the development process from start to finish, for an archery game called Imprecision. Before I begin developing, I like to brainstorm ideas and create a Game Design Document (GDD). Here is a link to a template GDD. This post will consist of Intro Cutscene, Olaf, King Bjørn, Borg, and Water!
Let's get started!
Halló, dróttinn ferðamaðr! (Hello, adventurer!) We now have the first cutscene that introduces us to the backstory and sends us on our quest, Olaf the wise old man, King Bjørn the Bloodthirsty, and a little water shader! Let's check it out!
Intro Cutscene
The story starts off with Örvar being awoken to chaos. His whole village is a flame and he must flee. He then finds himself in the middle of the forest and meets an old wise man named Olaf. Olaf tells Örvar who has caused the destruction and sends him on a quest to defeat King Bjørn the Bloodthirsty and The Black Knights. The cutscene was made with Unity's Timeline.
King Bjørn the Bloodthirsty
King Bjørn, the malevolent and bloodthirsty Viking ruler, casts a dark and foreboding shadow over the nation, commanding unwavering loyalty from his feared and ruthless army, The Black Knights. With a heart devoid of mercy, he has mercilessly seized control of the land, leaving a trail of devastation and despair in his wake. Cunningly adept at manipulation, King Bjørn relishes in the suffering of his adversaries, reveling in the fear he instills among the common folk. As brave heroes prepare to challenge this ominous sovereign, the legend of King Bjørn, a tyrant of unimaginable cruelty, stands as a haunting reminder of the darkness that can emerge from a powerful throne. I use Magicavoxel to model and Mixamo to rig the model. Here is King Bjørn and his axe. He has two axes, which he duel-wields.
Borg
Level 3 is the castle or fortress of King Bjørn and The Black Knights. You will work your way up and into the fortress. I plan for the player to complete a puzzle to gain access to the fortress.
Water
I have implemented a little water shader to make the environment feel more natural and real. I couldn't upload a video, but here is a picture.
